What's Happening at FA!

Tales of Transatlantic Freedom

Falmouth Academy is proud to host the opening event of this year’s Black History Month series, Tales of Transatlantic Freedom, on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 10:50 AM in the Simon Center for the Arts.

This original work features internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Andrea Baker, composer Howard Moody, and special guest artist Newman Taylor Baker. Together, they blend vocals, piano, viola, and even a washboard to explore the labor, resilience, and contributions of the African Diaspora through the music of folk, blues, jazz, and opera.

This event, co-sponsored by the Woods Hole Diversity Initiative, is free and open to the public. Guests are asked to sign in at the front desk.

FA Community Series

Falmouth Academy launched its Community Series in 2001 with a talk by Atlantic correspondent Robert Kaplan. Since then scores of speakers, performers, authors, artists, and scientists have shared their experiences and expertise with our audiences. The presentations, which celebrate community, are supported in part by the Woods Hole Foundation.

Community Partnerships

WOODS HOLE DIVERSITY INITIATIVE

In 2004, the leaders of six Woods Hole science institutions signed a memorandum committing their institutions to work together to attract and retain a more diverse workforce. That memorandum established the Woods Hole Scientific Community Diversity Initiative. The initiative in turn established a diversity advisory committee (DAC) to make recommendations as to how the institutions can make the village a more diverse, more inclusive community. Falmouth Academy is proud to be an associate member of the DAC. Click here for information on DAC initiatives and events.
Falmouth Academy brings the community together with a variety of public events—from concerts and lectures to fun runs and pickleball. Many are hosted in partnership with local organizations, offering something for everyone. Check out our community calendar below to see what’s coming up!
