Falmouth Academy is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. Unlike public schools, it receives no government funding. Tuition alone does not cover the cost of an FA education, nor does it allow for the continued growth of the school, such as additional facilities and programs. The Annual Fund and capital campaigns cover those costs.
We hope that everyone affiliated with the school will contribute to the Annual Fund each year at a level that is comfortable for your family. Every contribution matters.
Most alumni, families and friends give unrestricted gifts to the Falmouth Academy Annual Fund so that the gifts can be applied to the school’s most pressing needs. Others give to specific known needs, such as financial aid, faculty development and endowment.
Annual gifts are to be spent in their entirety during a specific period of time. Gifts that create endowment funds are meant to exist in perpetuity, and they are invested for long-term growth. In most years, Falmouth Academy re-invests endowment interest earnings to grow the endowment. In other years, endowment earnings are used to support regular or special programs, as approved by the Board of Trustees.
Yes, Falmouth Academy is a 501(c)(3). All gifts to Falmouth Academy are tax-deductible subject to the limits allowed by the Internal Revenue Service.
Many companies match employee gifts up to a certain limit per year. To find out if your company is among those participating in a gift-matching program, ask your human resources department for information about your company’s gift-matching policy.
Gifts can be made in a variety of ways. We accept single gifts of cash, check or credit-card by mail, phone, online, or in person. We also accept monthly gifts by transfer from a bank account or credit card. You may also make a pledge to be paid over several years. We are also equipped to receive gifts of stock, bequest gifts, as well as some in-kind gifts.
