Students Accepted by Regional Music Festivals

Following competitive auditions, Falmouth Academy students earned 21 spots in regional music festivals: four for the Senior Southeastern District Music Festival; five for the Junior Southeastern District Music Festival, and 12 for the All Cape & Islands Music Festival. Based on their high scores at the Senior Southeastern Festival, two were recommended for the All-State auditions on January 29.

Senior Southeastern District Music Festival, January 7-8, Duxbury High School Performing Arts Center
Orchestra: Ronna ten Brink ‘13 (Falmouth), violin
Chorus: Tessa Hulburt ‘11 (Woods Hole), soprano
Band: Allie Sethares ‘11 (East Falmouth) and Cosette Bardawil ’14 (Osterville), flutes
Ronna ten Brink and Cosette Bardawil were recommended for All State Music Festival auditions.

Junior Southeastern District Music Festival, March 11-12, Attleboro High School
Orchestra: Hannah Beams ‘16 (Mattapoisett), viola; Aidan Huntington ‘15, (West Tisbury) and Guy Knapp ‘15 (Falmouth), violin; and Emma Rogalewski ‘14 (Falmouth), cello.
Band: Chase Gibson ‘14 (Marion), trumpet

All Cape & Islands Music Festival, February 3-5, Bourne
Orchestra: James Abdu ‘13 (Bourne), violin and Nicholas Scharr ‘13 (East Falmouth), timpani
Mixed chorus: Tessa Hulburt; Katherine Bianchi ‘12 (West Barnstable) and Ronna ten Brink, alto
Concert Band: Allie Sethares, Jessica O’Malley ‘13 (North Falmouth), and Cosette Bardawil, flutes; and Lela Sethares ‘14 (East Falmouth), clarinet
Treble chorus: Anneke Elmhirst ‘11 (Falmouth), Catherine Aviles ‘14 (East Sandwich), and Savannah Maher ‘13 (Mashpee), sopranos.

Instrumentalists are members of the Falmouth Academy Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Deborah T. Bradley. Mr. John Yankee directs the Falmouth Academy Chorus, and Mr. George Scharr leads the FA Brass Ensemble and the Jazz Band.

The music festivals are sponsored by the Massachusetts Music Educators’ Association and the Cape Cod Music Educators’ Association.
