From 1981–1991, he was assistant to the headmaster and dean of students, history teacher, dorm parent and varsity coach at the Hun School in Princeton, N.J., where he grew up.

Committed to small schools where students can work closely with dynamic and talented teachers and have conversations across grades and backgrounds, Mr. Faus speaks regularly about the values of small schools at conferences sponsored by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the Council for Advancement of Secondary Education (CASE).

Mr. Faus and his wife, Holly, have two children: Libby and John. All the Fauses are avid sailors.
