Falmouth Academy student musicians had a strong showing again this year at Massachusetts music competitions with one student named to All State, ten students chosen for All Cape, two for Senior District (Southeast) and two for Junior District. Joshua Watson was named to the Massachusetts Music Educators (MMEA) All State Festival Mixed Chorus on Saturday, January 20th after competing at the Senior District level.
The All-Cape music competition recognizes the best high school musicians on Cape Cod by audition. All-Cape musicians come together for three days culminating in a concert on February 4, 2018 at Barnstable High School. This event is sponsored by the Cape Cod Music Educators Association and students may be selected for jazz band, concert band, orchestra, treble chorus or mixed chorus.
The Massachusetts Music Educators Association sponsors Senior District (grades 9-12), Junior District (grades 7-9), and All-State music competitions recognizing the top musicians at the state level. The Senior District concert was on January 6, 2018 at Bourne High School and the Junior District concert is on March 17 at Taunton High School.
Over 500 students from MA high schools will rehearse and perform together at Symphony Hall in Boston on March 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM (click HERE for more information on All State).
