On Tuesday, January 9, 2018, Kendall Currence ’18 broke the league record by scoring a career 1,832 points to become the Cape's top scorer. Currence unseated former record-holder and FA alumna, Sarah Beninghof '98 who held the honor for the last twenty years.
The FA Mariners were playing St. John Paul II at home when Currence tied the standing record of 1,813 points within the first few minutes of the game. By the end of the game, she had scored a total of 26 points helping her team to a win of 54-25. Athletic Director Henry Stevens remarked, "With this much playing time left in the season, it is possible that Currence may top 2,000."
Sarah Beninghof reached out Wednesday morning by email to congratulate Kendall and commend her on an amazing achievement, acknowledging the dedication and determination it took to get there. She also offered some sage advice, "Hit the pause on everything and take it all in. You've earned it!"
