Gala, with its humble roots as an informal carnival in the early '90s, has matured into a dressy festive affair for the whole family. Each year, FA's Student Council picks an inspirational theme for the evening and names the charity which will benefit from the proceeds. This year's theme was inspired by the book, A Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett and lends an air of springtime verve to the event. The International Rescue Committee has been chosen as the charity recipient in support of their humanitarian and disaster-relief work.
Admission is a $10 donation and each guest receives twenty activity tickets with donation. Attire is semi-formal.
Festivities include swing dancing, musical performances, a photo booth, a variety of games, passed hors d'oeuvres, a dessert station, and a raffle. There is also a quiet space for families to take a break or for parents to relax and talk.
Questions about the event or raffle-item donations should be directed to Student Council President, Nick Kania '18.
